Design Thinking is often used to help understand and solve complex problems. It has been adopted by a range of businesses as it is seen as a way of enabling creative thought in the work place.
The idea of using design as a “way of thinking” in science and technology is usually traced to Herbert A. Simon‘s 1969 book The Sciences of the Artificial. Elsewhere, design as a thinking process is also referred to in design engineering, initially in Robert McKim‘s 1973 book Experiences in Visual Thinking.

Design Thinking draws upon logic, imagination, intuition, and systemic reasoning, to explore possibilities of what could be, and to create desired outcomes that benefit the end user (the customer)
What is the Process of Design Thinking?
The process starts by defining the problem and then implementing a solution. The crucial part of this is that the needs of the end user are central when working through the process.
This process focuses on needfinding, understanding, creating, thinking, and doing. At the core of this process is a bias towards action and creation: by creating and testing something, you can continue to learn and improve upon your initial ideas.
The design thinking process consists 5 steps:
